WHAT IS WOOL4SCHOOL?
Wool4School encourages budding designers to learn about the benefits and possibilities of Merino wool, showcasing creativity and innovation through design. Students create a unique design made from 70% Merino wool, taking inspiration from the Wool4School brief. From fashion design to architecture, visual arts and beyond, there are no limits to students’ area of design.
DISCOVER THE BRIEF
WOOL FOR THE FUTURE
Wool has been used for thousands of years, and as we look to the future, today’s designers have the opportunity to rethink how we use this versatile fibre.
The wool fibre is natural, renewable and biodegradable. It keeps wearers warm in winter, cool in summer and is being used across sportswear to fashion and even space travel.
Your challenge is to imagine what wool could be used for in the future. How might it be worn and designed to suit the next generation of style, technology and sustainability.
Explore how wool can lead the way into the future. You might consider:
• Future fashion: What will people wear in 2050?
• Sustainability: How can wool help reduce textile waste?
• Innovation: Can wool be used in new ways and with new technologies?
• Expression: How can you use wool to tell a story about the future you want to see?
Your design must include 1 to 4 pieces and be made from at least 70% Merino wool.
